Scientists (real ones that is, not "celebrity" scientists) have known for decades that fossil fuels and nuclear are the only means to produce sufficient energy. Newsom says green didn't fill the energy needs, but California is dedicated to going 100% green. Add that up, it means California is dedicated to failing to meet energy needs. Green energy is not complicated, California just has the wrong people leading the way. Nuclear is the way to go. Nuclear doesn't fail when it is cloudy or not windy.

By the way, the energy grid does not stop at the California border. Why is CA the only one with a shortage. I suspect CA doesn't want to purchase energy on the spot market, so they force rolling backouts instead. That is bad management.

California, they same folks that won’t build reservoirs for water storage and power generating because of environmental reasons have committed thousands of acres to wind and solar farms. Both raise ground temperatures and don’t provide energy 100% of the time. Roof mounted solar increases the “heat island” effect. They stopped paying residential solar customers for their excess energy generation then allow the electric companies to increase electric usage fees during peak hours 4-9 pm and we still have rolling black/brown outs. I can’t wait to see how much SDG&E will be allowed to raise rates after changing out all wooden poles to steel.
