Man, I was literally thinking the other day how great it was that they’ve given Giedi Prime this weird black & white sun because it means the Harkonnens have been shaped by their environment in the same way the Fremen and Sardaukar are in the book. And here Denis is saying that was exactly his motivation, to follow the book’s theme of environments shaping populations. The guy understands the source material so well.

Denis you are really special! When its all said and done you will be mentioned in one sentence with the great ones. This is only the beginning of your career because finally you get your deserved recognition and people see how great you truly are (and always have been).

I can't believe nobody has picked up on this yet so I will say it here. The scene shot from above as Paul moves through the huge crowd of Freman is a visual reference to him being the Kwisatz Haderach. In Dune part 1 Mohiam says "Like sifting sand through a screen we sift people". The scene from above resembles grains of sand with Paul sifting through them and being separate because he is the Kwisatz Haderach that the Bene Gesserit have been working towards all those years.

This is a really good interview. Mia Lee Vicino is a good interviewer who asked great questions and I love how she let Villeneuve speak without interrupting. And Villeneuve’s passion for the world of Dune is a delight.

Greig Fraser is a master at his craft. Teamed with Denis, it's almost too much talent for one film.
