Each of those bowls cost close to $20. So you spend $80+$20 on paint and other materials. On total $100. I would simply get a new side table at this point.

Or if you need more storage, instead of gluing the top on directly, you could put it on a hinge and store stuff in the top bowl!

Those bowls aren't cheap though. This table is way more expensive than many ready made ones.
