How quickly can ataxia progress? Are we looking at years or months? I suppose this depends on the type of ataxia and the symptoms one I’d experiencing.

The thumbnail of this video says "all ataxias are treatable" BS. Some of the SYMPTOMS of ataxias CAN be treated but the congenital, genetic issue that causes some ataxias IS NOT TREATABLE... yet ... for such a well educated person that is SOUGHT OUT to medically treat individuals suffering from ataxias including congenital and genetic disorders, more is expected than half truths and click bait. SHAME. Do better.

I need HELP, I was recently diagnosed with SCA3 the army is kicking me out, since it is a fairly new disease they don't know how to treat it. I have tricare and can pay for any of the treatments necessary. How can I get a hold of this Dr?

My mother has CANVA and it is progressing badly and she is 81 years of age.

The medical professionals in the UK are dosing her up with high strength pain relief and that's it... Nothing else. She is being told there is no cure and no other treatments.

For years I have been suggesting exercise, nutrition, supplements etc but I am met with mistrust and aggression every time.

I have also asked for access to her medical records to understand what form of ataxia she has and what tests she has received. However again, I am met with mistrust and aggression. "What do you know? Do you think you know better than the doctors?"

I try to explain I am researching and trying to help but then she will become more aggressive and spin the conversations into something unconnected for an argument. Personally I think she has the CANVA but is addicted to the pain killers also.

Please can someone help or advise?
