Love your 'common-man' reviews. Most of the channels now take 1440p/4K and newest GPUs as the top priorities, but for a good chunk of crowd out there still holding onto their 1070s, 1060s and 580s/570s, you provide highly relatable benchmarks.

The rx580 is a beast of a card and has aged like fine wine. I bought mine in 2018 and it’s still rocking in 2023. Gives me solid FPS in wildlands, breakpoint rdr2. Considering the gpu prices these days. I am still using it and satisfied with its performance. Perfect card for 1080p gaming back then and still rocking especially the 8gb one.

Time and time again, we just can't get rid of these legends. Every time 580s and 570s become the best value again, I think about 2kliksphilip's videos on the $200 hero cards, and realize that this kind of card just isn't coming back with the death of moore's law. We have entered the GPU malaise era.

The graphic cards from that era are so great .
My older GTX 1070 also aged very well in 1080p. :D

I have an RX 590 in my Ryzen 5600X system and it runs very well. AMD is keeping drivers updated. I think the 580 8GB or 590 are still great choices for affordable 1080p systems.

This card was probably one of the best purchases I made before the crypto-craziness + covid exploded. I bought the XFX GTS model (NEW) and still rocking just fine. Now it's almost impossible to find the original 580 new, but I guess the cut-down version of it being sold nowadays is also fine, considering it's going for around 80 bucks or so.

This was the gpu I picked out for my uncle in 2019 he is still very happy with it, beforehand he bought a gt610 not knowing it wasn't a gaming gpu, he would get 1 frame per week 😂😂.

As soon as he put the rx in he was astounded at what video games looked and played like.

Man you really do have good tastes, I’ve left previous comments on your videos about the RX580 and I had this exact one! It was an awesome card that has been in 4-5 of my friend groups PCs and lives in my friends system paired with an R5 3600. He plays modern titles on 1080 at mostly medium stuff and has been super happy with it.

I'm using a 580 right now and I adore this thing! In the lead up to Half-Life: Alyx I needed to upgrade on a budget, and took a chance on an eBay listing that may or may not have been an ex-mining card. For ~$140, at a time when most of them were substantially more expensive, I got an 8GB Sapphire Nitro+ variant that ran the game well enough for me to thoroughly enjoy the experience. Paired with a secondhand Xeon E3-1275L v3, it's not up to the demand of the best looking modern titles, but I play mostly older stuff (e.g. Quake at 1440p by way of Ironwail), or newer games at lower settings, combined with a bit of video editing in Resolve, all of which the card handles comfortably. I'm thrilled with what I got for my money; well done AMD!

This card aged so well and you can pick up a used one for less than $100. This thing's insane.

EDIT: I also noticed you referred to Cyberpunk 2077 as Cyberpunk 2023 in the description, idk if that's intentional or not

I'm glad you finally decided to show this card some love. I've been using the RX480 8GB version since launch and it's still fantastic for 1080p. Back then it was trading blows with 1060/6 for sure, but the VRAM was a deciding factor for me along with AMD's trend to have "fine wine" GPUs. Vulkan was also giving this card a big boost over the 1060, though maybe it's different nowadays. The card allowed me to set high textures in games even if I had to lower some other settings. They are available for a pittance right now, but running them in Crossfire isn't gonna help you at all.

Would be really nice to include overclocking and/or undervolting these cards to see the performance increases

This is exactly why my wifes ancient R9 390 8GB is still trucking 8 years later, as it has nearly the same performance as the RX 580.

I would be interested to see how much more performance you could get doing the same tests using AtlasOS (legal stripped down Windows 10 for gaming). Though I'm aware how much effort that would be.

be warned for anyone looking to buy one, make sure your getting the 8gb variant, theres a 4gb vram model that was around too, super common in prebult pcs, had one in my pc 5 years ago and it performs way worse due to the lesser vram, and wont last much in todays games, so just be sure if you get one its the 8gb model if possible and if not stated then check to see if it was from a prebuilt, if so then its probably the 4gb variant, also the rx5700 xt is another great option if prices are good in your region

The 4gb 570 beats the 1060 3gb now.
These cards aged very well

Its right there in legend status right next to the gtx 1060

The card is really pretty good and has lasted quite long but I do think that going forward the 580 will start to struggle due to Its lower horse power

I have the 4gb model, bought it 2nd hand over 3 years ago.
Pretty happy with it and now I've undervolted it it's even better with less powerconsumption, less heat and same performance.

Oh friend, you are so on point with RX 580 - one of the best GPUs still, specially for a low cost rig, as you mentioned. I used to have 2 rigs back in the days, one with 1060 and the other with RX 580, and they both are still alive and kicking in gaming as far as I know :)
