This dood interrupted Michael about 200x in those 2 minutes when he's about to give you gold.

And, if the interviewer wouldn’t have kept interrupting Michael, we would have learned more.

That voice flowed all around my apartment day and night for many many years. I will always keep what his songs taught me close to y heart.

I am a big fan of REM, and at a time I used to be kind of homophobic, you know making fun of them because it was the "macho thing" to do, but then Michael Stipe revealed his sexuality and made question everything. If he was one of my idols, and one of the coolest people on earth, there's nothing wrong with homosexuality. I was the one who was wrong. I love Michael Stipe, and I always will. He has helped me be a better person.

Michael: “are we still talking about my sexuality?”

I remember when he came out, it had to have been hard on his career but even harder for him to hold it in. It's not that people want to let everyone know about their sexual activity, it's that when they love someone they want them to be accepted. They don't want to hide them or that part of themselves that loves. Nothing dirty or wrong about it. Love is good and should be acceptable, at the very least tolerated, but never condemned.

I was into REM far before I realized I was bi, so to have one of my favorite bands have a frontman that himself is a bisexual king, honestly heartwarming

Can't the interviewer just let MS finish his answers?!?

I love him and I am a very proud homosexual. :)

Sadly I live in a rural area in Louisiana where gays are frowned upon even hated . Well...I do not look gay being that I am more masculine but I purposely wear my Apple Watch with the Pride strap on it to show that I am gay and to let all these homophobes know that I am not going to let them make me feel bad about being gay and that they are not going to intimidate me.

Like the whole world didn't know Stipe was gay within five seconds of seeing him in any REM video. Straight men don't "dance" the way he did in the LMR video.

I wish we lived in a world where sexuality didn't have to be announced. Love who you love it's no one else's business. Be happy someone found happiness in a partner.

I'd like to ask Mike Mills how he comes up with these incredible melodic basslines. That's of more interest than sexuality.

He had many relationships with women. One being Natalie Merchant, the other was a woman who probably would have been the love of his life had she not passed away tragically on the eve of Murmur.

I’m here because I saw a guy laying on the ground screaming “Losing my religion” during Karaoke. It was hilarious

The only thing I remember about that was, him saying I assume everyone knew just by the way I dress, but I think he was just being off the cuff, but it didn't matter to me cause by then I was into his beautiful song writing, Mike Mills too but it wasn't on us it was about him with no obligation to us about that, thanks for the years guys 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

I had no idea he was gay. I never heard anyone mention it.

Michael Stipe can say that he doesn't believe in labels all he wants but that doesn't do nothing for the next generation it just rationalizes it in his head.
