Great video - thank you! As another commenter states, travel to Cuba by US citizens remains complicated. I traveled there (mostly to La Habana) in July 1991, when it was mostly forbidden…except the father of a friend of mine from university was Chief of the US Interests Section (which represented US interests in Cuba between 1977 and 2015, before the brief resumption of diplomatic relations during the Obama administration). My friend’s family invited me for a visit, which required special permission from the State Dept. and the Dept. Of Treasury (because of the economic embargo). Let’s just say it was one of the most memorable trips I’ve ever made and I have very fond memories of my time there.

We are preparing for our I believe our 70th trip to Cuba over 32 years and we are well travelled and Cuba is one of the friendliest, safest, wonderful giving people, great beaches, great entertainment. We stay at the 3 1/2 star Roc Barlovento Hotel in Varadero where the staff do everything to make your holiday one to remember. When travelling the world don't expect the food to be the same as you are accustomed to. We have had no problem with food. Yes, some shortages but nothing to get up set about. (Butter, milk, peanut butter sometimes)

Si, I have visited Cuba twice and the food is most definitely the worst thing about the Country ... But not all Hotels are the same ... Research Hotel food quality ... FYI ... The older Hotels usually have the best beaches.

3:55 dijiste que no te puedes imaginar el servicio de comida en los hoteles "más antiguos" si el nuevo tenía una comida tan aburrida y mala. Pues, nunca se sabe de verdad, sí?... Creo que es totalmente posible que los cafés y restaurantes más antiguos sean los que están más maduros y "sazonados ", tanto en su comida como en su ética de trabajo. Los nuevos lugares no tienen la misma experiencia, tal vez. En realidad... Recomendaría los restaurantes más tradicionales y más antiguos cuando busques autenticidad. Mira la edad de un restaurante y lo sabrás! Además, puedes leer las reseñas en línea.

Why do you say that the food in Cuba is bad ? Can you be a bit more specific please ? I was in Varadero in the month of May in a 3 star all inclusive hotel and the food was not that bad ! Of course the Cubans don't eat spicy but the western buffet they had was similar to what we see in the west with a lot of fruits of course ! They had a nice caramel pudding too that I have never tasted in Canada. All in all I did not complain . The only thing we lacked was butter. On the whole even though Cuba is under a US embargo they put up a good show in our hotel . Therefore I would like you to be a more specific !
