A desperate man among a group of migrants rescued from the Channel today begged "we're in the water" as children sobbed around him before the dinghy they were in sank.

A chilling Whatsapp voice message was sent from the small boat to French charity Utopia 56 shortly before 2am, in which a man on board pleaded for help.

The man in the recording said: "We are in the water and we have a family."

The sound of children crying can reportedly be heard in the background.

Meanwhile, Raymond, a fishing captain whose crew saved 31 migrants, stranded in the Channel has revealed he woke to the sound of them "screaming for help".

While it is hard, understandably, for many to stomach the sums being spent on asylum seekers and people who arrived illegally by channel crossings, it is a matter of record that Government figures show that in 2021 the International Aid budget was reduced by 21% to £11.4 billion, much of which is now being diverted to pay for foreign migrants now residing in UK.
Therefore we see that ring-fenced spending is currently going towards UK-based projects which would formerly have been spent abroad.
Moving on logically, it is therefore irrelevant to compare Govt spending on migrants with our own UK homeless, who were never shielded by the International Aid budget.
Our own domestic crisis of homelessness needs to be resolved without reference to the money spent on asylum seekers, as the required funds originate from an entirely different pot of Government spending.

Those fishermen who saved them need to be named and shamed. Them and everyone who works for borderforce, RNLI and every MP need to be held accountable
