Drone footage filmed by the BBC has captured the scale of the numbers continuing to make the dangerous journey from Turkey to Greece by boat. On average, six people die every day on the crossing, with more than 481,000 people making the journey so far. But as Matthew Price explains, this is only the first step of their long journey through Europe.

00:55 What children? I see no children in this video. Well very few. Very few women either. 90% are adult males.

They haven't even reached land yet and they're already throwing trash of the boats.

Love the way the migrants just throwing the things they don't need anymore into the sea.... Given they're throwing themselves at the mercy of europeans, you'd have think they'd have had a little more respect for our lands.

Not sure how bad this situation is, but not only are they illegally crossing the border, but also throwing things from their boat in to the sea.

I expected to feel sympathetic.
Instead I feel mad.

Half a MILLION mostly young men.
Most of whom are not refugees but economic migrants. We are not obliged to give anyone a 'better life', Europe has a right to be Europe not an extension of Africa with all its problems. Even the Dalai Lama agrees. If you want a better life, make one in your home country, go through the pain and hard-work our ancestors did to get there. Then you might appreciate it.

Not a single woman or child in sight, just single men.

Why do these people think they have the undeniable right to demand entry into another country. Are there any young men left in their own country, are all the women left alone!

Why are they fucking throwing away these floating tires in the sea? They haven't set a foot on the ground yet that they're already polluting... I'm sooo grateful for this enrichment!

Since Merkel opened her big mouth and declared that Germany would welcome 800, 000 migrants this year, she should now charter vessels to transport them directly by sea to Hamburg and and not expect other countries such as Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia and Hungary to handle the thousands arriving daily on their doorstep. I'm sure the Greeks would be more than happy to supply the ships.
