I get asked all the time...which beginner guitars do I recommend?

Electric Guitars:
Yamaha Pacifica - “Student guitar”The most versatile electric guitar for the beginner and beyond. they do rock, blues, jazz and metal and anything else you can think of! I LOVE them!

Jet Guitars.Fairly new to me, but they play brilliantly. A silly amount of guitar for such a low price tag!
Links coming soon!

Acoustic Guitars:
Cort AF510 - Budget beginner guitar
These have a folk sized body, which is a smaller sized body better for lady chests, and cake bellies. I've sold lots of these guitars to students and they're impressively well put together. I always have a bunch in when I teach my live guitar classes at my music school.

Sigma Guitars - next level

Guitar Practice Amp: Yamaha THR10ii
It has all the sounds! It’s great for using as an interface for recording in your favourite DAW.Link coming soon

I absolutely "A Major 7" these lessons Ricky. You are helping me get my mind around it and it's my favorite part of the week. I had some memory loss after cancer and chemo so my brain doesn't work the same, but my scans are clear now and I'm working my way back. Thank you. See you on the live stream.

I use 2-3-1 finger placement. James Taylor music taught me how to play A's and D's in a way that hammer-ons and pull-offs are simple. It also allows for a clean A major fingering alone of course..

I use 234 if I want to shift from A to Am to Asus2.

I use this 213 if I know I'll be needing the 7s and also if I want to hammer on the Asus4.

I immediately disregarded the 123 fingering even as a beginner.

It made my fingers feel fat. My fingers don't like to feel fat.

A major fingering improvement, and that Am7 is so sweet❤

Hi Ricky.

I first learned the 1, 2, 3 fingering, but I found it cumbersome and switched to 2, 3, 4.

Now, I most often play that A major one of two ways:

. Using fingers 2, 3 & 4. This allows me to quickly switch to an A minor, C major or E major.
I guess I must rotate my wrist a little to avoid any fret buzz.

. Or I'll also just barre those strings with my index finger, omitting or muting the high E string.
I can also quickly hit the G on the high E string for a A7.

But I will give it a go. I can see the economy of this fingering for other chord progressions.

Thanks !

Looks like the same Martin I use. I love it!
I have sausage fingers so I've developed the (probably bad) habit of using only fingers 1 and 2 to play the A. It works for me but probably limits me in some way. I'll definitely give this a go!

Maybe good to be able to play A in a variety of ways depending on the chords before and after

I very often play A with one finger. Yep it is an A6, but if you don't hit the E string. It is still an A.

Or just flatten the third finger. I thought that was how 80% of people play it
