They hated the success of the first movie they made because it was supposed to be an insult, per the filmmakers themselves. So they had to make a sequel and beat everyone over the head with the message they wanted to send. That message? "MEN, YOU SUCK."

I thought that the first Joker movie was brilliant because it showed how society's indifference to men's human suffering could potentially create monsters. It is so like the media to portray it as just being about a so-called incel becoming dangerous, because his problems were about much more than just access to sex. He was thrown on the ground and kicked by multiple assailants, he lost access to his mental health medications, he lived in grinding poverty, and had many other nonsexual problems. Trivializing men's major injustices is just par for the course.

its pretty obvious that the higher ups were told to move away from the core messaging of the first one. the first joker was pulling at a thread they didnt want pulled. now they make it a musical to ensure it alienates the previous audience and/or flops and on the way out they make fun of anyone who thought the first one was a serious commentary on society which it very obviously was

they dont want people noticing things but its too late were all starting to notice
