In retrospect, it's truly amazing how close they managed to replicate the arcade game given the limitations of NES hardware. As a kid, I even preferred the port due to the extra levels.

In the 90’s, I still remember it was one Friday night renting TMNT: the Arcade game at a video store.

When I saw the box on a rack I was shocked because before that I played it at the arcades and wanted to know if it would play the same.

So I rented the game($1) bought Mexican sweet bread and played the game all night until I beat it(or flipped it like we used to say).

I had so much fun with that game and the songs still play in my mind to this day!

Back in 1990, i did not complain. Just was happy to get any version of the arcade game. First saw it previewed in Nintendo Power and couldn't wait until it came out.

Also, I made sure to use the Pizza Hut coupon in the back of the manual. Good times.

TMNT2 On nes was an absolute masterpiece. I remember renting it so many times from blockbuster before getting it for my bday.

I remember when my dad bought this game I was super excited because I was obsessed with the arcade version. Then I played it and was instantly deflated by how it looked. I got over it tho and played the game a ton cuz that's just what we did. Not a lot of options lol.

It was as close, play wise, as we got to the arcade. TMNT 3 The Manhattan Project was cool too. Turtles in Time and Hyperstone Heist however felt like the cabinet was in my bedroom.

Arcade version because it has better sprites your character is faster than in the nes version and the arcade version has more voice lines and 4 players and you can give yourself as many lives as you want

Damn 89 I was in 2nd grade it was definitely a cowabunga era. I’ve downloaded TMNT from google play app. Yes Arcade version is better but as a kid I barely noticed it on NES. Because of the hype

So many hours of fun on the next version, and so many quarters spend on the arcade version, both were dumb easy, but they were super fun to play with your friends, classic games. They did such a good on the NES version, within the limitations. They kept the spirit alive of the arcade classic

I still have the video is my 8th birthday getting this for NES. It was a TMNT themed party and I also got a big turtle stuffed toy meant for using as a chair in bed (and wrestling against since it was so big).
