With a career spanning more than 40 years, Mix Engineer and Producer Bob Clearmountain’s credits include working with artists such as Bruce Springsteen and the Rolling Stones. Bob’s career started at the age of 19 as a runner in the shipping department at a studio; when Bob returned from running an errand, he was brought on to help assist as an engineer for Duke Ellington. Bob sat down to discuss the differences in the music industry from when he started until now, owning Mix This Studio, and his relationship with Apogee Electronics.

Interviewing Mr. Clearmountain and not discussing about Avalon, Slave to Love and Woman in Chains is like interviewing Leonardo da Vinci and not talking about the Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, etc.. Seriously, asking how he crafted those mixes would be my questions nr 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.... then oh, yeah Born in the USA, Brian Adams... etc

Plus, the interviewer that INTERRUPTS him...
Plus, people from audience that say "whazaap?!"

It's disappointing to me.

In any case Bob stands out as very seasoned, wise and humble. A true Legend!

Bob did well considering that our interviewier here, kept drifting from topics before Bob could respond fully, or would state a topic ("musicianship in old school recording sessions, let's talk about that" for example) then digress totally away from what could've been a super interesting line of discussion... Topics mentioned then quickly discarded, before Bob could elaborate. A coherrent interviewer might've made for some additional xtra-great insights here, that said, Clearmountain is always an awesome (and generous) interview subject, regardless of who's asking the questions.

When someone as experienced, eminent, and willing to share as Bob Clearmountain talks, you shut up and listen. At least that's what you're supposed to do.

Kool and the Gang gave this man his real start as an engineer, mixer, and producer as he himself stated but yet it's not at all mentioned in the description of this video.

Mixing with the masters, but in his case it's the master of the mixers. His career is one big puzzle if you hear the man talking. Big respects, btw he has created a plugin, with Apogee and it's just amazing. Very recommended.

The song samples sound pretty compressed / limited compared to their originals.
