When Ford announced a new Mustang – an all-electric crossover Mustang called the 'Mach-E' – the automotive world didn't quite know what to think. Some screamed 'blasphemy', and some saw a true Tesla rival. So, we sent Top Gear magazine's Head of Car Testing Ollie Marriage to find out what the newest member of the Mustang family is really like.

Calling it Mustang got people (including _Top Gear_ ) to pay attention. If it were Mondeo or Taurus would it be all over the review sites as it is today? I doubt it.

Ford's plan is to make the Mustang a stand-alone brand; like Lincoln, or like Dodge did with the Ram. There will be several models (electric and otherwise) under the Mustang badging.
