Illinois: Chicago for a Day - Travel Vlog | What to Do, See, and Eat in the Windy City

For state #20 we were in Illinois! When you think of Illinois, you probably think of two things... … Cornfields and Chicago! And while we do love corn, an entire travel vlog dedicated to it didn’t seem very entertaining, so we went with the other option... Chicago! From Millennium Park and the Magnificent Mile to Lou Malnati’s and Portillo’s, we spent the day taking in the iconic sites and foods that have made the Windy City such a popular destination, and as always, we documented our entire experience so that you can follow along!

Check out our “The Ultimate One Day Chicago Itinerary” blog for more details!

If you ever go back to Portillo’s and Chicago get one of our Italian beef sandwiches, and of course, it should be with the hot giardinera!!

Glad you enjoyed some of our parks. You also need to try some of our different types of pizza and our ribs, of course! Eli’s cheesecake and maybe an iconic cheeseburger at the Billy Goat (or Au Chèvre get there early!)

You guys! Chicago dogs are so addicting - it’s the only hot dog I ever crave. My wife took me to Chicago in the winter….now that is freezing. AZ people + Chicago winter = never again lol. We missed the architectural boat tour since it was closed so thank you for showing what I missed. Looks like you love Chicago as much as my wife does.

Adding your toppings at Malnati's is the best way to go.

I've really enjoyed your travel videos. My wife and I live in Ontario, Canada. We are traveling to Northern Central USA first 2 weeks in October. Our vacation is taking us to Cleveland, Chicago, St-Louis, Louisville and Cincinnati. We are definitely taking in some of your recommendations from this videos and other cities you've traveled to. I also like reading and taking notes from other viewer's comments of places to go and food to try. Can't wait.

I always learn something from your videos! And it's crazy how cold Chicago is. Even during the Summer.

OMG. Matt and Nat, so glad you came back to do a full day here. I moved here 30 years ago and you represented Chicago well....took the L, architechture river tour, Starbucks Roastery, the lake front....my first Chicago hot dog was from a Portillos too. Too bad about the pizza, I like the sausage at Lou Malnati's but agree that selecting your own toppings would have been better flavor profile. I hope you can come back in the future to enjoy the museums the Aquarium, Planetarium, snd check out Frank Lloyd Wright studio in Oak Park. Your drone shots were breath taking.

Chicago Native here, who works downtown. From downtown original deep dish pizzas, the original pizzeria uno or their second location pizzeria duex. I tried a different deep dish pizza every Friday for almost 2 months and that was my winner. Best combination of crust/bread, sauce, cheese and ingredients. There’s a few spots I still need to try like Labriola. Roberts pizza and dough company is a great brick oven/artisan thin style along the riverfront. I’ll keep you posted though. Thanks for stopping by.
