Illinois state trooper killed while clearing debris on I-55 in suburban Chicago

Trooper Clay M. Carns, 35, was fatally struck by a passing vehicle on I-55 near Channahon.

So sad....people need to slow down...they need to avoid anyone on the side of the road. When an officer's car is on the road, 99% of the time, someone is going to be in the roadway out of their vehicle. This could have and should have not happened. Always expect the unexpected when operating a vehicle.
