Will Lyles ever break Usain Bolt's world record at 19.19 seconds?

An undefeated season, the American record, and the world championship gold to his name, all within this one season. Lyles has entered into a realm of greatness that very few have been able to reach. I know that this track season is coming to a close, however I simply cannot wait for the next season to roll around so we can see how many more feats of sprinting greatness Lyles can accomplish.

Lyles is becoming a man among boys. He makes winning look so easy. It’s inspiring to watch.

I’d love for you to make a video regarding Grant Fisher because what he managed to do this season was historic. Grant Fisher managed to shatter many American distance records this track season, and honestly it’s amazing to watch. He has been such an outstanding athlete that I truly believe can compete with some of the all time greats. His rate of improvement is legendary, and I believe that next season, we can most definitely see an American win a world championship medal in both the 5k and 10k, a thought that many track and field fans never believed would be realistic.

Lyles might get the WR eventually. But the real truth is that Bolt would have stretched this WR further if he had something to push him. At the time he ran a 19.19, it seemed impossible and that's what's driving Lyles to run faster, He has something to chase. I strongly believe if the WR was 19.19 when Usain was at his prime, the WR would have been at the 18s range by now. So its all about chasing a mark and that's what is helping Lyles get there slowly. I don't feel he might though, but his consistency is scary and its hard to fail with this kind of consistency.

Great performance! By the way, those who thought he was a fluke and that Knighton will dethrone him, "hello to all of you". Will you now be humble enough to give tjis great athlete his due flowers?

Undisputed 200m specialist at the moment. Kudos to all the other athletes for giving us memorable moments. Much respect to all of you. The discipline, dedication, sacrifice and hardwork they put in to give us the best of sprinting is not hailed enough.

A special appreciation to the production team of this YouTube channel for the constant updates and quality service and insightful commentary . We are very grateful. Until the next athletic season officially commences, stay safe!

I started to feel like I was missing something the other day, to which I realized I hadn't gotten my fix of T&F whilst you were off for a moment. Good to see ya again, hoping life's treating you well.

Great job in giving the statistics of Lyle's performances. The comparison to other elite track and field athletes exemplified his excellent season. I look forward to next year watching him build his season as he has done in 2022. World record watch? I feel so.

I’m going to watch your videos anyway because they’re amazing. The clickbait is not necessary. You’re loyal subscribers will help you grow the channel.

That’s cool and all. But you literally have Usain Bolt that Ran 9 Sub 19.60s

19.19 (2009): 8 rounds (1st place)
19.30 (2008): 8 rounds (1st place)
19.32 (2012): 6 rounds (1st place)
19.40 (2011): 6 rounds (1st place)
19.55 (2015): 6 rounds (1st place)
19.56 (2010): 1 round (1st place)
19.57 (2009): 1 round (1st place)
19.58 (2012): 1 round (1st place)
19.59 (2009): 1 round (1st place)

All of Bolt’s fast times are races that matters the most (Olympics & World Championships) with multiple rounds (both 100m rounds & 200m rounds)

Breaking Usain Bolt’s 200 metres world record would be a great achievement but Bolt has won three Olympic gold medals at 200 metres and set two world records at this distance the last one into a headwind of 0.3 mps he was on another level.

This year has seen the most amount of men (18) & women (11) run sub 20/22s in a single season ever! Lyles built on what Kenny B did last year when he ran a record 13 sub 20s races (11 wind-legal) from 16 races with ALL 12 of his 200m races this season being sub 20s races (11 wind-legal). Knighton's 19.49 back in April seems to have provided some additional motivation! Lyles has also been helped by not having to worry about competing in the 100/400m as well like Bolt/Johnson did respectively which has freed him up to concentrate solely on the 200m.

Keep running 200m within 19.6x seconds (or 19.5x seconds recently) in the final is insane. And this happens in 2022.

I really hope Knighton can find that 19.49 form next year and push Lyles and even further. I think it might be possible

That title is a bit misleading. For a moment I thought he beat the 19.19 mark. It gave me a mini heart attack😂

You do a Great Job of reporting! Thank YOU!!

The improvements in shoe/spike technology means even if a runner run 19.18 to break the WR I would still class Bolts performance as better! People seem to forget about this.
