It is interesting to see how great golfers (yourself included) get different spin numbers with the same club.  Comparing another well known reviewer, his spin is 2, 000 more with slightly lower ball flight and 10 yards less carry and exactly the same ball speed!  Sometime, it would be instructive illustrating how the delivery of the club head can create such differences in ball spin.  You both have the Titleist AP1 just piping the Ping G400 based on slightly more spin with the AP1.

For 7 months of the year, up here in Edinburgh, there's no requirement to have 25, 000 rpm to hold the firm greens. Seriously, for mid to high handicappers the last thing they should be worrying about is how much spin they can generate.

I find this attempt of manufacturers to produce clubs that are not what they are indicated, 7i is really a 6i and so on as a bit confusing. Are they just trying to make the golfer proud that he or she is hitting that same club farther? At some point you will have to carry a ton of wedges with several different types of backswing for each in order to get the distance you want. I don’t want to carry wedges more than 60 deg loft. This is my question coming from a high handicapper.

200 yards with a 7i? I am getting 175 on my best strike with the M1. Would like to see how the 5i goes because with strong lofts I struggle to get as much height as I want - but as M1 5i lofts is about same as my old 4i lofts not a big surprise

Seriously long iron, you'd only need to carry 9 through 6 ordinarily with those sorts of numbers. You could carry 4 wedges and a couple of putters at this rate 😂. Great review as always 👍.
