Richard thanks for the very understandable videos!

My wife drives a 2016 Nissan Rogue. It has very few miles on it - 4, 400. All the sudden she took it out the other day and she said it was shaking. When I took it for a ride it was misfiring badly and I got codes P0301 P0300 P0219a.

Since the P0301 is cylinder 1 misfire I first swapped the coils of 1 & 2 cylinders. Same P0301 and bad misfire. Then I swapped 1 & 2 plugs and the misfire code went to cylinder 2. Thought I solved it with a plug replacement but day later got rough idle and check engine light again but now P0303 P0300. So, I change all the plugs. Still rough idle and check engine light with P0300 code.

Looking closer at the removed plugs they showed some carbon and fuel progressed up the threads - this was on all cylinders.

Messing with my code scanner I found a monitoring function that shows how many detected misfires in each cylinder. Letting the car idle cylinders 1 & 2 show zero but cylinders 3 & 4 have progressively growing number of misfires. Just to do something I swapped the 1 & 3 coils and the 2 & 4 coils but no change.

The car is running much better than when it had the first problem but still rough at idle and misfires sometimes at low loads. Seems better under load.

Any suggestions on what to try next welcome.

Thanks - Mike

I just recently had the same code. Here’s what I did in order: changed valve cover and gasket (had lots of oil in spark plug wells), didn’t help. Changed cracked intake hose, no change. Inspected/cleaned MAF sensor (saw a video with a mosquito stuck in there causing same code). Changed the cam sensor, got the idea from this video. No change. I kinda had the same thing happen to me, the code changed from p0300 to p0303 (did the coil switch to see if code followed coil and nope), it was the fuel injector for cyl 3 for me.

My 2014 Nissan Rogue has very rough idling and sometimes stalls when coming to a stop, with codes P0014 and P0300. I’ve seen various opinions and fixes on YouTube, where some people say it’s the Camshaft Sensor, others say it’s the VVT sensor or the other 2 Sensors lined up beside the VVT, the same part as the VVT. Others still, duty oil. The Rogue has 2 Camshaft sensors right at the top, easy access. So, I changed oil and filter, removed the 2 sensors(identical part) and since they look ok, just swapped positions and reinstalled same. Still misfiring. Before I order parts, how do I ensure that it is the Camshaft sensor? Nissan dealer tells me that these sensors are not covered under the 6 yrs/130, 000Km warranty.
Help, please!

Nice video on diagnosing this POS code😬

thank you for this useful video, in my case it was engine overheat that caused the P0300, not sure why yet, maybe the water pump ( it was low on coolant but I think it is still enough to cool the engine )

It could have been a nock sensor as well.. but i'm glad you found that problem

Had similar problem, first it was cylinder #2 misfire, I replaces all spark plugs and coils. 198, 000 mi.(06 Altima 2.5) Even though I checked the coils and they were still good, I didn't feel comfortable changing only Cylinder #2 coil. The car ran fine for a bit, it would idle fine then start to misfire after about 15 minutes, and at stop lights ect.. Then the IAC low voltage sign popped up I did the same cleaned out the MAF sensor and checked for any leaks around the intake. I will try switching out the camshaft sensor, thanks for the tip. I was planning on changing the crank sensor but ill try the cam sensor first see how that goes.

came across this in google

my 2002 altima is throwin p0300, as well as p0031 and p0037 (low voltage on both th o2 sensor heating coils). and p1148, caused by the above.

replaced O2 fuse and the pending codes went away, but they are still being thrown after a clear and rescan.

im replacing the VC as it was already known to have a leak,

occasionally i get hard starts, have to crank for almost a minute and pump gas pedal turns over runs high rpm then settles down and its fine for a while.

after VC, looking into battery and grounds.
But might look into the Cam sensor, as things like switching to high beams dim radio backlight and you can hear rpm flucuate.

also need to test my fuel pressure, as the hard starts started after getting gas.

My sentra was throwing the same code, replaced the cam sensor, no change, turned out to be the cylinder number 3 coil, replaced that now its running smooth

Thank you for your complete video. 2009 Nissan Murano had a radiator leak and overheated on the road, and engine stopped. After replacing the radiator, now, the engine vibrates and has P0300 code. After some more driving it went to limp mode, but it doesn't overheat. So, I am hoping it is not a blown head gasket. Spark plugs were replaced recently. Do you have any suggestions? I am guessing the intake gasket could have melted and cause a vacuum leak? Can overheating damage the camshaft sensor?

On some cars a bad crank position sensor can also be the cause, cause the crank position sensor tells the fuel injectors when to fire.

I've messed with these stupid engines for a while now since my sisters car had one to begin with they can have all kinds of issues internally like burnt valves or bad lobes on the cam and low compression on top of the list you have here but one thing I've noticed about these engines is they love to blow head gaskets and you don't really get codes just slowly start having very random hard start ups and they tend to consume the water instead of fully over heating I've had 2 engines of these do that start misfiring throw misfire codes before the head gasket goes and both about the 160-170k mille mark so something to look out for for those who are beyond baffled with misfire codes on these

I have a 2006 Nissan Sentra 1.8 L, also throwing this code P0300. The camshaft sensor went out on it last month and I replaced, so that's not my problem. I already replaced the spark plugs and ignition coils, but hasn't fixed. Took it to a mechanic who I trust and he couldn't figure out what the issue is. He smoke tested the intake system and found no leaks in the intake. He performed a leak down test and there were no leaks into the radiator, intake valve or exhaust valve. He said the mass air flow sensor reading is too hight (but doesn't think that is the problem). How do you test the fuel pressure on the fuel pump?

Thx Richard for the video. I have a 114K miles 2010 370z nismo with CEL on and off because of only random misfire code P0300 and high RPM idle at cold start, approx. 1000 RPM. The car runs fine and never stalls so far. I've recently replaced the sparkplugs, cleaned air intake filters, welded a crack on the catalyst converter, and the CEL didn't go away. Should I replace the coil pack, fuel filter or camshaft sensors like you did? How can I tell if the camshaft sensors are bad and are OEM parts expensive? Thanks in advance!

One question how many volts were you getting at the sensor and how many is it supposed to have

I have a 2005 Sentra with a little problem ... It is haunted! .... the engine was completely repaired. When the engine si Cold I get the code 300. Multiple fault and coil 4. I have already exchanged the spark plugs and injectors and the fault continues .. the water does not heat up or bubbles. Pressure has already been put into the radiator and everything is fine. It is not smoky. I checked the computer and everything is fine. The injectors are fine. The variable gear does not sound. Check signals all fine. The car works fine after I Jeep running the engine... any suggestions ... O sea your vídeo and I whas thinking on replacing the top sensor with the crankshaft sensor ....they are the same....

I am having this problem now. My fuel pump went out so I replaced it. I got rough running car with check engine light. Steps I done scan the car had codes p0303 and p0304. I replaced all 4 sparkplugs they were bad shape. Still same codes. I replaced all 4 ignition coils. Car ran great for 2 weeks then done it again. I replaced injectors car ran good for 15 minutes and now doing it again
