Seth Godin: How to be INDISPENSABLE

In this exclusive video interview, Seth Godin explains how to be INDISPENSABLE. Godin argues that one of the main barriers to innovation is the "lizard brain," the primitive part of the human brain adapted for survival. He explains that the lizard brain "loves being a cog in the system" because it's safer than doing something foreign and untested.

-----

The system is broken and the system needs you. Are you indispensable, capable of making a difference, doing work that matters--or are you a compliant cog in a machine that cares little about you? Seth Godin, entrepreneur and bestselling author of Linchpin wants to sell you on doing art, standing out and getting what you deserve. - BizTechDay

American Way Magazine calls Seth Godin "America's Greatest Marketer," and his blog is perhaps the most popular in the world written by a single individual. His latest book, LINCHPIN, hit the Amazon top 10 on the first day it was published and became a New York Times bestseller.

Seth's talk about Fear at the end of the video is PRICELESS!

"You have to calm the fear, but you have to FEEL it!"

"I don't write books because I want, I write books because I have to." Absolute passion. Glad I came across this!

Lynch pin and The Practice are two of Seth's books that have resonated most strongly for me.
I am an engineering technician/ auto mechanic that is working on developing a bespoke product with the intention of it becoming a step towards semi retirement and a business that can be done as part of a lifestyle change.
Coming from a fairly rigid process environment Seth's viewpoint of what doing creative work and the mindsets and attitude s needed to be focused and successful in that sort of situation have been very helpful.

It’s pretty amazing to go back and listen to what he was saying back then...and how it has all played out exactly as he called it. The guy is a visionary.

I'm doing a mentorship right now and my mentor had me read Linchpin. I'm in the midddle of job search and this really puts things into perspective. I have a few lizardbrain things I've been battling myself.

Loved the book. The only scary thing is that I might be one of the 'wild-haired crazies' the company keeps in a corner.

Hey there! I really appreciate the interviews. However, I find that, despite the amazing subjects you brought up to the table, it seems like Seth could've elaborate a little more and give a deeper perspective of what he meant or thought about the subject he was asked to talk about. So one constructive criticism that I would like to offer you, as an interested viewer of your channel, would be to ask fewer questions and really focus on the top 5, and let the speaker really rant and speak on it.TY!

Ahaha, I find it funny that a marketing video featuring Seth Godin has a remarkable title.

Is the socks story true or were they joking?

It's brave for him to wear mis-matched socks. Interesting interview.

Luxury has come a long way. Back in the 70’s it was a mink coat...now it’s a nice smelling bar of soap.

I love the idea of mismatched socks. I won't buy this brand, but I stopped pairing my kid's socks to save time and energy, and I believed nothing wrong with the mis matched socks. Pairing socks is the least value-adding activity

Wait, what is that again, what he said at 9:29? Microwave Ovens with cameras that allow Seth to snoop on unwitting GE & Slyvania customers? Was that a joke? Is that even legal? Was that a closed experiment? What's the deal with that?

What if all that Seth is proposing as new adaptive strategy will be obsolete in just ten years?
