Imagine if this is the first GCN video that someone is watching and they start to wonder what a hell is wrong with this channel.

If no money makes a ride epic, my life has been one long epic ride!

Some solid advice there, but when it comes to epicness, I think I can help:

1. Be sure you are out of shape. The more out of shape you are, the more epic the ride is going to be.

2. The no sun rule might work for swamps around England, but if you live in 9-months per year summer area like I do - you achieve epic run by not avoiding the sun. You know how everyone recommends you don't go riding between 12 and 15? That's exactly the time you gotta be out there. Use factor 50 sun block and get that suffer meter over the top. (Combine with 1 for extra effectiveness.)

3. Decide to test your new saddle on the longest trip of the year. What could possibly go wrong? Combined with 1) and 2) for bonus style points.

I can confirm that Ive been on one epic ride in my life. I missed my buss so i had to ride home 40 miles in the middle of the night through bug infested back country. My garmin took me on 5 miles of gravel road, i ran out of water with 10 miles to go, i was getting pelted by bugs every second, and by the end a spider had built a web on my bars. SO EPIC!!

I recently cried on a 75 km ride. 3 degrees C, with a sore knee, and first 20+ kms were uphill. I think I cried because nobody cared that I was whining.

Me and my friend made a game time decision to climb the tallest mountain in the state( 8 miles of climbing) in nothing but t shirts and shorts. At the top it was around 45 degrees Fahrenheit, very windy and raining. We had to huddle in porta potties at the top to stay warm. Then it took an hour of stop and go descending ( stopping to warm up) to make it down. Safe to say it was pretty epic

This is my favorite GCN video of all time. It had me laughing and also remembering all the times I experienced every aspect of epic rides.

I do all of my epic rides on a track bike. Flying down a hilly gravel road in the late evening makes one feel alive. And my dentist gives my activity a thumbs up while he puts the finishing touches on his private tennis court.

We need more videos like this one. I know that GCN has already produced many videos of a satirical nature but the great thing about them is that there is no shortage of them, and that we won't end up with videos that see really devoid in terms of content, like "How to Use Thru-Axle on Your Bike."

You also need to get lost while being far from home after dusk.

That "Garmin-Throw" is an epic special effect. You should sell this to Hollywood studios. #epic #specialfx

"An epic ride cannot finish at lunchtime" my favourite line, Simon's face when his Garmin gets chucked in the bushes ! Epic

GCN is now officially the (old) Top Gear of cycling, but without the crudeness. Well done :D

call that epic....LUXURY....I once rode 30 hours a day - in a lake, wearing only a rolled up newspaper....I ended up dying from exhaustion and then rode some more....

Don't eat the berries below knee height, unless you prefer the ones that have been peed on

Pretty funny guys too bad many cyclists do take themselves too serious never waving cause they're too cool and such.

Thanks GCN! Really enjoyed that one. I think we've probably all been there and done that at some point, if not all in the same ride. Although perhaps not the woolly bit.. and no epic ride is complete without an almost terminal mechanical mishap - and possibly a crash or two!

EPIC ride Austrian Style! I was invited to speak at a conference in BadHoff Gastien - so flew with my bike and thought I'd do the Gross Glockner Alpine pass - 20 plus Km at more than 10% average and the last 14 km above 12%. Trouble was the only day off from the conference I had, the weather was TRUELY EPIC. Cold (it was End of September) wet, and with little or no visibility. In true EPIC style this didn't stop me - although forgetting my pedals and only finding the last road pair in the entire valley the day previously nearly did. But off I set, and found truly EPIC conditions on the road to Bruck - it being a dual carriageway with little or no room for cycles and heavy goods vehicles tearing down it - in the rain....Survived to the base of the climb and rode it. Got to the top and the Café was closed. No hot warming drink. No change to buy a souvenir medal from the machine (you needed a €1 and a 5cent coin). Took pictures of both (replacement souvenir medal I suppose) before leaving. Visibility was so bad you could only just about make the drop off at the edge of the escarpment at the top rather than any view. Then on the descent the weather really closed in and got real cold and I was literally shaking with cold by the base of the climb.TRUELY EPIC
