Welcome to an ongoing series of what could be called my Capsule Film Reviews

This one is "Stan & Ollie" from 2018 directed by Jon S Baird and starring Steve Coogan and John C Reily.

Based on the Book - Laurel and Hardy the British Tours by A J Marriot.

A favourite film of mine and a fantastic Docu-Drama covering the famous duo at the later stages of there lives in the 1950's. While some elements maybe fictional or used for dramatic effect, this is as close as you can get to the essence of what Laurel and Hardy were to many of us, without damaging your own view on them.

Excellent informative review, I enjoyed it and feel you gave a great perspective on Laurel and Hardy. Like with music, it should ultimately be all about the film and not the packaging. 👍

Well I think you know my thoughts on Laurel and Hardy seeing as how we did a 3 hour plus stream lol but this film is incredibly touching and funny at the same time.

Not a fan of Steve Coogans work but his portrayal of Stan is incredible, so close to the main character.

Yes it is criminal that it hasn't been released on 4K but somewhere down the road it has a good chance of happening.

Top analysis again mate, perfect film for a late Saturday afternoon relaxing with a drink and a snack.

This is really brilliant, everyone should watch it. tbh I'm quite surprised I enjoyed it so much as I rather dislike Coogan but he did such a superb job in this, I have to admit.
