Remember, money doesn’t buy style! If you can’t afford some of these pieces it’s absolutely fine and with some research you can most likely find similar, more affordable alternatives. You can still use this as inspiration for outfit ideas and styling possibilities with your own wardrobe. But also… the Top 10 Affordable Clothing Items version is coming soon! 😊

that cost per wear ratio was an amazing piece of advise! I'm usually really hesitant with buying clothes but I got myself a 100€ down coat this winter (which was waaay over my usual budget) but I wore it every day until it got too warm and now I feel like I absolutely got my money's worth of wear and I'm going to wear it for years to come!

What about the opposite version of this as well? The cheap clothing you’ve worn the most?

I recently splurged on some black chelsea boots from beckett simonon and some black/tan axel arigato catfish lo's. I usually never spend that much money on shoes, but every time I put them on I feel like a million bucks. It's nice to treat yourself sometimes, but only when I truly love what I see.

Hey Tim I would love to see a video on how to fold different kinds of clothes (especially pants) properly to avoid creases and other unpleasantries. Also how to hang them properly when drying them. I guess a general "how to take proper care of your clothes" kind of video, as I feel this is a very important aspect that is often glossed over. It's easy to completely ruin a good piece of clothing if you don't know how to take proper care of it. Great video as always, love from Denmark

I can relate to your introduction to Acne Studios wool mohair trousers and bla konst jeans, as they are among the clothes that work particularly well in my actual wardrobe. They are minimalist yet sophisticated patterns that complete most outfits with ease. Personally, I would recommend the Issey Miyake Homme Plisse pleated pants. They are not inexpensive, but they are so good in portability, functionality, comfort, and beauty that you don't need anything else if you have these pants.

I definitely agree on the cost per wear mindset! If you know what type of fits/pieces work for you and there's a pricier but perfect option, I definitely think it's worth the purchase. I've made the mistake of purchasing technically "cheaper" options that I ended up wearing once or twice before it never saw the light of day. The cost per wear for my more quality, staple pieces in my wardrobe ended up being far lower in the long run!

I would say buy a lesser known brand for chelsea boots like trickers, crockett and jones, loake, you can get the same silhouette for half the £850 price but probably will be made better.

In fact brands like prada often go to lesser known brands to produce their high end footwear, look at RRL, they use cheaney to make their boots and you can get near identical boots with the cheaney’s being around £350 and the RRL heading towards £800

I bought a fairly inexpensive leather biker racer jacket in off white with stripes on the sleeves this year. I must have gotten 100 compliments on this jacket throughout the fall and winter. It looks kind of upscale and sporty at the same time. The color went with any outfit. Black leather jackets are great but enough already... this jacket i have breaks from that mold. Love it.

How do you think fashion is different from other art forms. And how do you think they are similar. You don’t necessarily have to respond. But it’s an interesting concept to think about. I’ve also found that thinking of fashion in relation to other art forms allows me to view it through a new lense.

Cost per wear does not justify buying expensive clothes. By that logic you get more from a $40 shirt worn 50 times than a $1000 shirt worn 100 times. There’s a certain point where more money spent is going to give you diminishing returns, but with that said, enjoy wearing what you want.

Love all of these pieces! Definitely stand by investing in pieces that I wear often, especially coats and shoes! I'd be super interested to know if you have any items that are in the 'expensive clothing items I DO regret buying' category.

#4 has the same silhouette as my Sandro jacket! I got it secondhand for less than $20 and even got complimented on it from a vintage store owner in Paris but hands down to #7 that coat looks amazing! I really like the silhouette but I think I would prefer it in another shade like closer to camel or a medium charcoal. Great picks! :)
