I love that, “be careful about trying to be happier than ‘happy’. “ 👏🏾 Good motto

That’s a terrible job, dealing with an old roster with no chance to win a title, no good young players, no draft capital, etc

Smart man. Don't be the next scapegoat. If LeBron leaves, then you come and coach.

Excellent point…. Its hard to get “happier than happy” - huge risk to leave a great job and expect even better.

Go to a 40 year old LeBron James and be lucky to make it to year 3? Or stay at UConn where you’ve got everything on a string…hmmm. Contrary to fs1’s belief, not everyone is dying to be in LA. And w the salary the lakers were offering the taxes would get that down to 6…which he’s literally getting already

A 6 year deal is actually hilarious when you look at the lakers recent head coach history

it was a good decision, Kentucky offered him similar money for a shorter period of time and Dan didn’t take the job so don’t know why the Lakers thought this would be different. the fanbase and GM ran out the guy who won them a championship in 2020, now are suffering the consequences. You better hope JJ Reddick still wants the job. imagine what he’s thinking at this time

UConn might be one of the all time CBB dynasties with Hurley.

As a laker fan I’m glad dan said no.. we’ve suck as an organization for the last 10 years.. not building players up.. over paying for ppl… Jeanie is a terrible owner.. her brothers are terrible too.. it’s hard to be a laker fan rn…lebron and his son is the best we got?? I’ll pass

Wow, the shine is off the Lakers brand. Imagine 10, 20, 40 years ago having a coach choosing a college job over the Lakers.

Their roster isn’t even Top 5 in the West but they will be expected to win a chip OR you’re gonna get fired.

This is a tough sell to any coach who is firmly established like Hurley is.

Other than money, wasn’t much of a reason to leave. Smart move, let JJ ride that train wreck.

Why would you want to coach Lebron that would never be hurly team unless lebron left

I mean 1) the lakers job is high pressure 2) the lakers don’t have a championship team right now 3) california taxes exist so $70 million doesn’t go as far as it says it does

The NBA job will always be there. Maybe not for the Lakers again but he will have the option in the east coast where he is from

He will end up regretting it. College game has changed and the dominant run is unlikely to continue. Also strange compared to football. Nobody would ever pass on an NFL job.

A 70 Million dollar offer is really like 34 Million in LA! They low balled him and he told them to kiss his *#* The Fakers history doesn't mean anything nowadays, there are to many strong teams in the West and the future of the Fakers is looking dark!!!

“Be careful about trying to be happier than happy.” You have no idea how timely this was for me. I needed to hear this today!
