It is not only green energy generation that needs investment, it is energy storage, as this is the weak link in using green energy. There are a number of energy storage technologies, the uk needs to develop the best of them, and its not necessarily big batteries that are required. Compressed atomspheric gas storage looks promising.
Where wind power is being used, more research must be done to reduce its environmental damage. Poorly sited wind turbines kill wild birds and no one seems to know what to do with turbine blades at the end of their life. There must be better ways of warning birds to kerp their distance from wind turbines and there must be design improvements to ensure turbine blades can be recycled.
