As a mother with a young boy in MMA, I’m you did this talk. Training him up to never have a part of any worship other than God. Thank you for bringing this to light

One of the martial arts I practice is HEMA, historical European martial arts, and some of the techniques came about from the Christian world view. For example, once Europe became Christanized, they added cross guards to swords in order to represent the cross. Besides just the religious symbolism, it also allowed the use of binding techniques that aren't possible with a sword that does not have a cross guard.

We need more Apologia martial arts conversations!

Appreciate the breadth of experience shared, from a breakdown of different arts as well as school ownership and training perspective. Just curious what your thoughts are on Filipino Martial Arts?

The sifu at the Kung Fu school my son and I used to be a part of was from the Hung family “Hung Gar” in southern China. He was an American. But started going to hang out with the monks and began learning the family’s art forms at the school in Philadelphia when he was a young teen. He kept going all his life. He has had his own school in Mooresville NC for over 30 years. He teaches and demonstrates himself as well as having the experienced students teach the beginners.

This is super helpful. I have a 9 year old son extremely interested in martial arts but as a believer I have felt very hesitant. For me it’s hard not to see it the same as yoga, but I would love for there to be a way to separate the physical aspect of MMA from the spiritual, for my son. I suppose it all depends on the instructor and the way they teach?

Important topic! I took Aikido for four years, then Krav Maga for 2.5, and now I've currently been training in a derivative or Filipino Martial Arts for about a year.

Though my instructor is involved in the occult outside class, it seems to me the most occult thing they do in class is yoga. I refuse to do the yoga portions (which thankfully they haven't done in months), because I am theologically opposed to the practice of yoga, as all Christians should be. Yoga is a Hindu spiritual practice.

Great podcast guys! I’m a Christian who’s been studying martial arts for many years and have had to deal with this topic multiple times, though I have never been urged by any of my teachers many of whom were Christians to involve myself in the occult. That being said on another note, you folks may be interested in reading the works of Anthony Cummins. He’s a British researcher on historical ninjutsu. He takes a very different approach on many different issues than does traditional Bujikan. God bless!

Also, I have had experiences with both an angel and a demon. The demon attacked when my husband and I where having big issues with our marriage and physically attacked me three times. The first two times I rebuked it in my head thinking about the words but it didn't leave until I rebuked it out loud.

The angel showed up as blue light when I was praying that God would send His holy warring angels to protect us and the angel showed up with a drawn sword.

Really fine show, laced with good humor and important insight! I had the chance, as a kid, to acquire a lifetime membership at a local Tae Kwon Do facility, but couldn't afford it. Now that I have passed 60, I am considering MMA, because of some potential threats around me. Would you agree that a good nutshell approach (I only have so much time) would be to follow the great stuff you teach online, plus engage in a reputable BJJ program? I've always stayed in good shape, am 6'2 and roughly 220 lbs. Thanks Jeff and team for this highly impactful video!

I practice the Samurai martial arts and historical ninjutsu, I stay clear of the stuff that is occultic in nature. I'm loving the Bahnsen course and am getting re- baptized soon. I hope y'all are well. God bless
