At the root of Ayn Rand’s philosophy is the idea that reason is man’s basic tool of survival and only means of knowledge. What is reason? And why is it incompatible with faith? What are emotions and how do they relate to reason?

Practicing and developing motor skills is a form of reason.

Very interesting and enjoyable lecture. It is up to us to program our subconscious with reasoned conclusions. This emotional output can give us reliable "gut feelings" which will help us when our conscious knowledge of a situation is lacking. The quick assessment of a stranger at your door may be an example. Another example; the subconscious awareness of hazards to look out for, when driving. Many of our actions depend on the subconscious, because there is only so much our conscious minds can focus on at any one time. We rely on the automation we program into our subconscious and that shows why rational programming is essential.

Emotions are programs in brain. Reason too. Reason is more important. And faith is lie.
