Ibanez RG, no question asked.
It's not just quality (in which case JP wins hands down), but also the style.

Now, if you compare Fender Japan to Ibanez JP AZ... I will go for AZ again IF it's an AZ24. But if both a 22 fret it's starting to be a toss up.

It all depends on the tone you want. There is no wrong answer.

I have a RG 2570 Prestige and a couple Am Strats and I would pick the IBANEZ hands down every time.

As an owner of both, I’ll take the prestige please. Far better craftsmanship than anything from Corona.

nowadays more people gonna love Japanese made guitar.. we all know most of them in the factory are perfectionist just by look at the guitar details... not just ibanez, even a fender and jackson.. nobody wants a problem with the guitar that they buy with big amounts of money sometimes... i just wont take a risk..

I got an RG Iron Label ten years ago and have been happy with it ever since. Especially the flat wide neck did it for me although among the fenders, Gibsons and Squiers I tried were some really beautiful instuments

Great, great comparison... Although when I grew out of puberty, I definitely never looked back at Fender or Gibson.

I would have to play both, and pick the one that spoke to me. Deciding factors are sustain, tone, playability, functionality(electronics, trem etc.), overall balance/weight and easy of playing and broken-in feel of the neck. So many factors and choices out there. Purchase of a guitar is such a personal thing with guitarists.

That one, American, it's a lot like my Japanese Fender Stratocaster, which I am putting a split guard and new electronics on. They used to make Aerodyne with guards, now they're direct mount, still have radiused tops, fast light modern necks. I wanted the ergonomic bound body with radiused top, but I wanted to have a split guard so I can take the control or the pickup plate off separately. A mod platform, control accessible front and back with the existing control plate, so I can keep trying new things as my 2nd hobby is learning as much of the guitar work as possible, ultimately to build from scratch. And seeing what I like and don't.

funny, I sort of had this dilemma a while ago. I found a guy on eBay that had a new old stock neck from a S series prestige with 22 Frets and also found another guy that was able to build me a RG body set up to work with a 22 fret neck in HSS. so it's basically a Strat with harder edges and a wizard neck w/AANJ heel. plays as good as any of my Prestiges and it does the Strat thing. currently one of my favorite guitars. I love the way a Stratocaster sounds but much prefer the feel and playability of the RG so I figured I'd smash them together. The only thing on it that did not genuinely come from Ibanez is the body itself otherwise all the hardware and neck is real deal Ibanez.

Ibanez. It's the perfect love child of fender and jackson

Are those active pickups in the Japanese? Either way the covers are a nice look I also like the floated floyd rose so yea that one the other is probably great for a blues cleaner tone though. In a tube amp

The RG every time. Not only is it far more versatile, the build quality is far superior.

you can do alot more on that RG. i feel people underestimate the importance of a full 2 octave scale
