About Dune:
A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, “Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.

"I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain."
- "Dune" by Frank Herbert

I got chills in the theater the second I heard those badass vocals

During the film I thought that Villeneuve sacrificed a little of his own authorship (for obvious reasons) to finish the film... But this whole sequence, until they leave Caladan, is the perfect balance between Denis style and the book

Mother Reverend: "Consider what you are about to do Paul Atreides."

Paul Atreides: "SILENCE!!!"

I am already lucky enough to see this masterpiece twice. And I will say that this scene is one of the best in the film. From 1:13, when Paul looks at the sister Bene Gesseret already without pain and fear, but with the pride and strength of the son of the Duke of the House of Atreides and the future Lisan al-Gaib shows the full power of this film and especially Timothy Chalamet as a greating actor and an ideal candidate for the role Paul Atreides.
Atreides! Atreides! Atreides!

1:20 I cannot pull myself together when I listen to this part. the vocalist scratches her throat strong and then in the end just let go abruptly and that makes her pitch off. I cannot escape from this short phrase.

Man, give Hans Zimmer an Oscar already for this! He already won over many composers from other films. He made Dune legendary and remarkable to listen regarding the score.

And I agree that it's the cinematic experience that every moviegoers must not miss seeing because you can tell the sound design, it really made you feel experiencing on taking the journey to the Dune universe.

Too bad here in the Philippines cinemas won't still open because of the upsurge of COVID. And it's a total waste because for me I also want to see it in IMAX.. so bad!!

But I can tell already. Hans is gonna steal every prestigious award for this score. Perhaps a lot.

This scene reminds me of the inner strength I found in myself during the worst of my pain before my diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis. Weeks of constant intense pain as my bones were fusing together, and I couldn't even lie down without putting pressure on it so I was forced to sleep upright in a wheelchair, totally dependent on care. I didn't know if the pain would ever stop, and I was struggling to prepare myself for the possibility of wasting away at a young age addicted to painkillers, dead before I could ever walk again. I was saved by a CT scan showing joint fusion and put on injections, and I felt like I was given a second chance at life. I can walk again without pain, but I no longer fear pain. Pain is just pain, and fear is just fear.

I love how the score mimics the building sensation of the pain in the box and how it gradually gets more and more intense as the piece goes.

I’m so glad this masterpiece of a book has an adaptation that finally does it justice….

It was this scene that sold me Timothee as Paul, because the way he act in that moment was so sublime yet so powerful.

So the Gom Jabbar test only lasts 2 minutes in total? Wow, it felt like an eternity

Awsome, simply awsome. You can feel a slight sting at first but soon the sting grows into unimagenable pain but after that comes control and the raw power of the mind. Zimmer really captured that moment.

watching this, I understood Villenueve when he said he felt like dancing seeing Timothée's performance in the gom jabbar scene. Paul staring down at the Reverend Mother really caught me off guard

WHAT!!! That’s Lisa Gerrard’s vocals!! I’ve NEVER EVOR heard her sing like that before! I read that Lisa Gerrard was apart of this soundtrack at least two tracks “Gom Jabbar” and “Paul’s Dream.” I’m so shook by what I just listened to. 😌
