In this video you will learn how the oldest subway in the world - the London underground - expanded. And also you will see the history of the London Overground, DLR, Croydon tram, Emirates Air line and Crossrail.
It took 710 hours to create this video. This is the most difficult of all the videos I've done. Therefore I am sincerely grateful to you for watching it, and even more grateful if you watched it from beginning to end.

This is seriously impressive. Being a big fan of the Underground and its history, I love this. I even call the oldest section at 0:14 “The Original Seven” or “The First Seven”. I also like how it includes the original names of existing stations before changing them to their current ones. The amount of research that must have gone into the making of this… Just… wow!

Brilliant video. One of the most fascinating things is the seemingly arbitrary re-naming of stations, particularly in the early days. Good to see that the development of London Overground, and re-invention of the East London line, is well-documented

OH MY GOD! There is a feeling that this is at least one of the longest infographics on YouTube! I hope a million views will not take long to wait!

I've seen similar vids showing the expansion of subways in Chinese cities, usually from their beginnings in the 1990s or 2000s. Very impressive indeed – until you notice that almost 8 minutes of _this_ video's jaw-dropping growth happened during the reign of Queen Victoria!! No Tunnel Boring Machines, only shovels. Just WOW.

Nah big up to you bro/sis. The effort, the detail, the time it probably took to make that is crazy. Had to watch the whole 47 minutes and 8 seconds 🙌💯

It's amazing that Japan has had subways since the Edo period.Japan's first subway opened a little over 60 years after Britain.

Imagine a through, all stations service from Verney Junction to New Cross! That would drive you mad…

It’s called LONDON Underground, not England Underground. I don’t understand why TfL would want to waste money on extending the Metropolitan line out of London.

38:10 This was in 1984. It was still "section" at the start of the year but two later tube maps that year have it as its own line.
