When Iron Maiden first started out (I'm talking mid 70s-early 80s, so before they'd established a more 'solid' lineup) they had a guitarist called Bob Sawyer who got booted for embarrassing the band with his showboating, playing guitar with his teeth and on his back, etc.
I just imagine he was just like Jack Black here.

This film is so awesome. Kids still watch this today and find the same love and passion for music that Jack Black has and shared with us all.

It didn't occur to me as a kid that No Vacancy are meant to be bad on purpose. It always sounded perfectly competent to me.

And as I got older, I realized: that's ALL it is! It looks and sounds like rock n roll, but it's just painting by numbers. It's a facade of toughness with no personality or earnestness. Dewey may be all over the place and an egomaniac, but he has character. Without him, they just become another toothless post-grunge band who wear rock n roll like a t-shirt. And he wasn't kidding when he said Theo's lyrics were lame, because... wow.

Of course, that's the point of the movie: Dewey learns the true meaning of rock n roll, they don't.
