Not sure if you knew this, but the Tweaking Glitch can be used in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl to catch Darkrai, Shaymin and Arceus.

Tweaking is actually the game writing load data to a buffer, but by loading more area it just pastes the data already in this buffer to the new area. However, by going too fast in certain patterns you can cause a buffer overflow which is known as the cascade glitch, which reads from pointerdata. If you refresh in the correct chunks you can however manipulate where this is read from, which means you can manipulate it's effects to an extent.

Also tweaking can't corrupt your savefile, that's a hoax :)
