A heads up from a fellow Eritrean: make sure your windows are open and the doors in your house are closed when cooking this. Berbere and all those onions leaves a stench for days and it follows you! Hope you enjoy doro wat as much as I do!

EDIT: MUMMY IM FAMOUS!! Also I meant to close the doors for the rooms inside the house. Not the entrance or back door obvi you don’t want intruders. I was not expecting discourse around berbere smell and I’m not complaining.

Great job! One tip is to soft boil the eggs, then add them to the wat to finish off cooking. All the flavors gets soaked into the egg and it’s soooo good. Tips from my habesha mom 🥹

Im Mexican and I used to work in an Ethiopian Restaurant, that was the most expensive and delicious item on the menu, gotta have the enjara !

I never knew Doro Wat was an Ethiopian dish until I got older. My tutor introduced me to this when I was 13. I fell in love with it! Being from the hood, we had nothing close to the taste. My tutor would bribe me, the whole for a perfect score.

My onion tip: cut off both ends then immediately rinse them under cold water before chopping. Works about 90% of the time. Love your channel!

Great job!! But definitely get the injera next time. It enhances the flavor of the food. There’s also a spice that’s added towards the end called “mekelesha” and it’s a blend of 8 plus spices that elevates the wot.

When I lived in Italy Eritrean friends used to cook this and it was so spicy and delicious. The beef version is also amazing!
