While these images look impressive, it is important to note that they are highly stylized renderings of what is actually out there. The actual images are far less impressive - assuming we can even call them images. Colors from the visible spectrum are applied for various reasons. Most of what is shown in such images is actually way outside of the visible light spectrum (e.g. think X-rays) but mapped into the very narrow portion of the visible light spectrum that we can perceive/see. The results are certainly colorful and cool to look at but are not reflective of reality.
