Committing your life to Christ is hard. There is a high price, and you may only sometimes feel the spiritual fervor you did at your conversion. What can we do about moments when it's hard to love God? In this clip, Frank offers some advice.

Feelings are fickle… they come and go. Love is a decision we make, regardless of feelings.

Some of the wisest words our Pastor shared with my wife and I during pre-marriage counseling: "You're 'in love' with each other right now. That 'feeling' will fade. As time goes by, you must choose to love each other- love is, and will become, a choice. Jesus 'chose' the cross because he loves us."

Feelings follow actions. Show your love for God through the words and actions you choose, and the feeling of adoration will come.

I came to faith on this day 12 years ago. I feel what this question is asking. Two things that have been helping me through this difficulty recently. (1) When I do my spiritual disciplines like going to church or reading the Bible, I need to remember that I do not do these things as someone who is struggling up a mountain to reach Jesus. I do these things as someone who has been invited to the peak with Christ already. (2) Is a term called Reluctant Disciple. That it is okay to be reluctant in following the call to Jesus, to discipleship and to the cross. There are those who we can relate to in the Bible who were Reluctant to following the call. We can be faithful even when we are reluctant to do so.

I read this psalm every day. I think it's beautiful.

I will tell of your greatness, my God

    who sincerely calls to him for help.
19 He listens to his followers and does what they want. He answers their prayers and saves them.
20 The Lord protects everyone who loves him, but he destroys all who do evil.
21 I will praise the Lord!
    Let everyone praise his holy name forever and ever!

Love isn't an emotion, but a commitment. You can feel various emotions while still loving someone, but you can't abandon that someone or choose not to make them happy anymore if you still love them.

Right spot on Frank, i'm not a feeling person either. It used to bother me sooo much, but thank God much He freed me from feeling so guilty about how weak my emotion was to feel love

God first made the commitment to love us with an everlasting love, therefore He shed His own blood to redeem us from an eternity separated from Him because of our sin choices. He has never not fulfilled a promise to us. We are to be conformed to the image of Jesus so we do as God does and commit ourselves to loving God and serving Him all the days of our life. Thank you God for showing us what love is.
