Breaking Benjamin is a classic. You can't go wrong with them. The album this song is on released in 2015. It's called Dark Before Dawn and was a huge turning point for the band because it came out 6 years after their previous album, Dear Agony, in 2009. It took so long for them to make this record because Ben was battling with serious health issues related to his past life of alcoholism, of which he no longer partakes in, as well as legal troubles with former band members Aaron Fink and Mark Klepaski. Essentially, they released material without Ben's knowledge and he fired them while still retaining the band's name. After that was settled, he found new members and the band became a quintet for the first time. Ben got tired of getting no answers from doctors regarding his health issues, so he just moved on and decided to make a new album with the new members. Dark Before Dawn was born and it was welcomed with open arms by all the fans, to the point where the album was the first in Breaking Benjamin's career to top the Billboard 200. The album was a banger. Two years ago, in 2018, the band released the follow-up album called Ember, which I believe to be there best album to date. It's so punchy, guttural, heavy, and powerful. That album is well-known for having a trilogy of music videos that tell an overaching story about a man who lost his daughter. The songs that correspond to those music videos in order are "Red Cold River", "Torn in Two", and "Tourniquet". I would recommend you check that trilogy out, however, it would be helpful if beforehand you watched the music video for the song "Never Again", which is from the previous album, Dark Before Dawn, because there are elements of a story within that video that tie into elements of the story told within the Ember trilogy. They released an album earlier this year too called Aurora, but that album is a compilation album that features a lot of guest vocalists on songs that have been reimagined with a sort of acoustic-ethereal tone to them, including Lacey Sturm on the song "Dear Agony", which was the title track for their 2009 album. The only new song on that album is "Far Away", which features Scooter Ward of the band Cold. Scooter is a long-time friend of Ben's. In any event, thanks for reacting to these guys! You rock Chase!

FUN FACT: Jasen Rauch with Breaking Ben used to be the guitarist for RED, who I used to tour with and work for. I haven't listened to Breaking Ben in a while, so I'm glad you posted this! It didn't rock as much as I like them to (I REALLY like heavier BB), but it was still a great song.

I haven't listened to BB for a very long time. I guess I'm used to their heavier stuff and Ben's occasional guttural screams, so this is like a breath of fresh air. Surprisingly this is quite enjoyable.

This song makes me cry every time I hear it. It is just so beautiful and emotional, especially lyrically. Please react to more BB!

So as for the newest album Aurora, the only New song is "Far Away" ft. Scooter Ward of Cold. The other songs from Aurora are re-done/re-imagined versions of their old songs, many with guest singers. I.E. "Dear Agony" ft Lacey Sturm.

If you're interested in some of their newer songs: On their newest album ''Ember'' they kind of made a little story consisting of 3 songs through the music video's. It starts with ''Red cold river'' and gets followed up by ''Torn in two'' and ''Tourniquet''. I think both ''Red cold river'' and ''Tourniquet'' would make for cool reactions sometime. (Coming second after my first suggestion which was ''Instability'' by Dragged under hehehe) Great video again Chase!

This is that song for me where I'll always cry when I hear it. Some other great songs on that album are Dark and Hollow. The album after this Red Cold River and Dark of You are my favorites

That snare sounds like they are using rutes or hot rods instead of regular drumsticks to give it that looser sound. I like that you caught on to the different snare sound!

Missed the sound of that guys voice.. haven’t heard anything from BB in many years. Think I will have to check some more songs out, can’t judge on just this one song.. I enjoyed hearing them again.

Thanks for all your awesome reactions, keep it up! ^_^
Breaking Benjamin always hits me with nostalgia, the first time I heard them was in Halo 2 in 2004; with "Blow me Away" :)

I am not a big fan of Breaking Benjamin, but because of bands that have toured with them I have seen them live twice. I have always come away impressed by the precision of their performances and how all the members are on exactly the same page and never miss a beat. One of those bands I always like what I hear, but just never got really into. Good laid back and chill song.

I saw them live once. They and Three Days Grace opened for Seether and Evanescence.

At 6:00, the different sound is cuz he is likely playing with hot rods instead of normal drum sticks which give a softer more open sound

After Phobia, I hardly ever listened to anything from Breaking Benjamin. This isn't like what I remember them but feels like rediscovering old crush again because this band used to be part of my life, although not for a long period of time. Maybe this is just what I need as an intermission from listening to heavier stuff since this morning. Have a damn good day.
