The ball is $0.05, and the bat costs $1 more, which is $1.05. That brings the total to $1.10 :)

Okay, for anyone who’s stupid like me, the ball can’t cost 10 cents because the bat has to cost a dollar more than the ball, meaning that if the ball was 10 cents, the bat would have to cost $1.10 which would make the total cost $1.20. That took me WAY too long to figure out.

Remember, $1.00 MORE than the ball, if the ball was $0.10 than the bat would be $1.10 equaling $1.20, so yes, he gets it right

Don’t even need an equation to figure this out. The ball cost $.05 cents and the bat costs $1.05.

There’s a lot of people here that don’t get math, and probably need a refresher… but here, just to break it down in simple terms:
1 ball = $0.05
1 bat = $1.05 (one dollar more than the ball <edited>)
Add them together and you get $1.10

This video actually forced me to use my brain.

I think I get it now. A lot of people (including myself) probably guessed $0.10 by simply subtracting the two values. But if the ball = $0.10 and the bat = $1, that makes the bat costs $0.90 more than the ball, not $1 more.

Ball=x
Bat=y

Find the value of x if y=1+x and y+x=1.10

Y+X=1.10
1+X=1.10

We remove the one for now and we have the .10 left so we divide that by 2 to get half that number
10÷2=5
So
Y=1+0.5
Y=1.05
X=1.10-1.05
X=0.05

That's my method

The lame thing about multiple choice math questions is that you don't have to do them the hard way. just start plugging in the answers. Start with A and be like well .05 plus 1.05 works and done...
