The ultimate backyard oasis, swimming pool and amazing aquascape. Micky's journey to building his 500,000 Gallon Pool in his own backyard started 29 years ago. Perhaps the largest homemade backyard pool in the world. Built over 29 years, first with a plastic liner, then a rubber one, and finally with spray on concrete, Micky has spared no expense making his dream of a massive pool come to life.

Living at the TN babtist childrens home, this was the highlight of every summer for us. Loved going there. Mr. and Mrs. Thorton were some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Thanks for having us every summer.

"From the little dream as a kid until now. Almost 60 years later now." Wow, what a legend! Few live a life worth reading about. What a pleasure to learn about Micky

That sand filter is really ingenious using the hydrostatic pressure of all the water above it. This guy is a true renaissance thinker. Respect 🙌🏾

Spent some of my free time this summer helping with the upkeep of the gardens. Mr. Micky and Mrs. Jane are just as amazing in person as they seem in this video! They use their pool as an opportunity to meet new people and share Jesus’ love with them. Awesome pool, and a lovely couple 🤍 Glad that someone took notice of them and their hard work.

I still think it's amazing you don't have a few million subscribers yet. Great quality production and neat stories!

Amazing work. Been in the pool industry for 17 years in Atlanta. This is the coolest pool I've ever seen. Genius design on the gravity fed sand filter system.

I never agreed with having a swimming pool but after going to my brother’s house and seeing our kids playing together it changed my mind. Memories makes it worth it!

Dude, you are my hero. Hands down you had an idea, you went big and I can imagine the joy you get from the smiles of the youngsters in there having fun is enough. You built paradise, the first commandment given to Adam first of human creation. Good on you.

Wow what a throwback! I had this video randomly show up on my suggested videos and thought, that looks familiar... I hovered over the thumbnail and saw Micky and thought, I recognize him too! I grew up and went to church with Micky's son. We had a few church parties at his house and got to swim in this pool about 20 years ago. It is as incredible as it looks in this video. And so cool to see all the old videos from building it over the years. I agree, the rope swing was way more fun than the diving board!

This guy is smarter than you actually think. Dude’s first thought was to call the zoo to ask who made their exhibits… you can’t get smarter than that.

The point in life is to keep a smile on your face, and keep your family close. He's a win in my book. Did it himself. Which is part of the process. That pool is his pride and joy.
