When you criticise the state, marrying a fed is the *worst* thing you can do.

The three main take aways I get from this:

1. Marriage requires adaptation, not strict guidelines.

2. Survival means working together to BOTH survive the day, while appealing to the authority each side has in their respective domain which grants them the respect that is due their position.

3. Feminism has not just villanized what marriage is/was, but destroyed our understanding of it with more precision than the "great leap forward" in China.

Traveling halfway around the world and marrying a fed seems like a bold strategy to be a trad wife.

She didn't spot the red flags like "He'd lock me out of the house." That's not a red flag, that means you already passed every red flag there is and ignored all of them.

Marrying because you got pregnant from an Asian FED you only knew for 4 months from the other side of the world is the exact opposite of trad, lol. 😂

"I got knocked up, unmarried, by a guy I barely know. He was abusive to me. This is totally the trad life."

Does anyone actually believe Southern was ever a tradwife?

Southern: Gets preggo out of wedlock being a 304, rushes into marriage with Fed agent with different cultural values, ignores all red flags and traditional advice.
Also Southern: My overly traditional marriage was a nightmare.

Who would've thought a couple that barely knew each other rushed to get married after getting pregnant would not have a very traditional marriage.

You really should bring up that he was a federal agent working for an authority which actively hated her. He was the one who should have switched careers, or she shouldn't have gotten involved with him. He viewed her as a barrier to furthering his career and he resented her for it.

Never trust a fed.

This story has nothing to do with being a "tradwife". Lauren made a poor choice in husband, marrying someone who she called unpredictable, then giving birth to his child and being struck by the realisation that she can no longer blissfully ignore those unpredictabilities when she is holding a child in her hands. This is a story of a woman who is larping a marriage, who doesn't understand how relationships are supposed to work let alone distribution of tasks in a family. Her husband is clearly an asshole who was not ready for a proper relationship either, but the onus is just as much on Lauren for going along with someone like that. I hate that these types of stories ultimately lead to "marriage bad", "kids bad", "career good", "me do career", "eat boogs".

“Sex before marriage”

“Marrying someone from across the world instead of my local community”

“Chronically online”

“Leaving your family behind to move”

Yup, seems really ‘trad’ to me.

My wife is a fairly traditional one. I have a very classy little lady and I am so happy. She is an excellent homeschooling Mother.

Ash Sarkar has unironically the worst take on tradwives. Something about equating them to Nazis.

Look at who Lauren married and had a kid with. It all checks out, why is she so upset? Its literally the frog and the scorpion

I've been married for 7 years and have kids. I can confirm that while there are immense challenges, I would not trade anything for my children or the bond I have with my wife. The challenge makes the reward all the sweeter.

Lauren souther is hardly the person that I would ever consider an example of the trad life.

"Trad" is mostly an aesthetic that became an instagram trend years after Lauren disastrously chose to marry a fed. She then retroactively blamed her choices on an 'ideology' that is not an ideology and did not exist while she was making mistakes.

Liberal Canadian larps as a traditional conservative, hijinks ensue.

I really appreciate your take here. I married my high school sweetheart, we have four children together and she is a stay-at-home mom and homemaker. Even when I get done working a full-time job, there are things to do at home. Whether it's traditionally male roles like mowing the lawn, changing the oil in the car, or not, like starting dinner at 5:30pm because your wife and children are all ill and have been throwing up all day. Those are things that a man does for the woman, the children, the family that he loves and has chosen.

I recently took a few days off of work to take care of spring tasks around the house and garden. The amount of mental anguish I endured from having my 2-year-old daughter repeatedly asking me the same questions or calling out Daddy only for me to answer and her to have nothing else to add to the conversation was eye-opening. My wife has the mental fortitude I can only ever dream of and I'm a very stable person.

These traditional roles, especially in a modern society, can be extremely hard on both aspects of the parents. However, when you see your children, flourishing and growing up healthy, with physical and mental balance, you realize that it is all worth it.

Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and thank God for the energy He is about to give you to complete the day. And you shall receive.
