Session 1: Introduction to class

This session sets up the structure, themes and philosophy of the class. After laying out the themes for the class, I noted that this is a class about valuation in all of its many forms – different approaches (intrinsic, relative & contingent claim), different forums (for acquisitions, value enhancement, investing) and across different types of businesses (private & public, small and large, developed & emerging market). After spending some time laying out the script for the class (quizzes, exams, weekly tortures), I started on the introduction to valuation by giving you my reasons for doing valuation (to fight looming lemmingitis) and starting on the discussion of widely held misconceptions about valuations.

additional note: YouTube is way better for the video posting. I found the iTunes version to have a very slow loading and the bandwidth requirement were heavy. YouTube I could watch with the slowest of connections. Once again thank you for everything.
