In the early 1980s i worked for a mechanic what was a former PBY 5 flight engineer .. His pal was a former P38 flight commander. he used to cry thinking about a P38 Mission flying bomber cover to the Romanian Oil fields.. out of 21 P38s only 7 made it back.. they all dropped their belly tanks to keep the fighters off the Bombers.. not one pilot hesitated a second to drop the tanks knowing they were beyond the return point of fuel without the belly tanks..

Would look cool next to that 1/3 scale B-17 that Jack Bally built.

Beautiful. I think West Coast Choppers has an English wheel to make gas tanks for their choppers. If not WCC, then another builder that had a tv show at one time.

Does it have the compression issues in a dive

Is the cockpit 2/3 scale? How do you fit in there to fly it, wasn’t a full size P-38 cockpit already fairly cramped

What it sounds like to buy not build it.

The wing in the back? Wow a real pilot, not an Aviator.

Always thought the P-38 was the coolest looking plane from WW2.
