Foreshadowing Leela's Parents

They did a buncha stuff in Futurama to hint Leela's true origins! Here are some of them!

Putting leela’s parents in the background of an ep has the same energy as seeing Ruby and sapphire’s silhouettes when alexandrite unfused for the first time

Leela also tries to convince the trial on the robot planet that she's not a human but an alien, only for the robots to ignore her. It's played as a joke, but looking back maybe the robots knew something she didn't.

This episode always makes me ugly cry this one along with Jurassic Bark and Luck of The Fryrish.

You know it's a well-written cartoon character if it can make you feel for the characters so much you ugly cry for days afterwards

I'm not sure how I managed to never notice that Leela's parents were in that crowd scene. I've watched Futurama so many times that I should have caught that.

Hahah, yeah, I remember when I saw the last episode mentioned here is when I realized she was a mutant before it was revealed, since those two mutant looked way to similar to her to be a coincidence. From then on I was so eager to see when the truth was going to be revealed. I was like, Leela was looking into the space when her parents where right there the whole time.

Question is, is the background appearance foreshadowing, or a "Let's put in a couple that look like Leela as a joke" moment that someone took the opportunity to MAKE meaningful?

Another interesting thing to note is when she was being told the story of the cyclops planet by Alkazar, it showed a baby put in a rocket and there are two cyclops that look very similarly to Leela’s mom and dad if they were more “human” per say.

Also in the first sewer appearance their character designs weren't finalized as the dad' mouth is horizontal and the mother has regular arms

Did anyone else notice how we had the fake-out wizard of oz parody like a couple episodes before they actually revealed her parents (imo people got mad at the fakeout and wanted closure)
