The his of Indonesia is filled with different cavillations early in its history. The the colonizers came and the history of Indonesia took a different turn with countries fighting over the trade.

What you said about being educated is so true!! I also don't really like how they said: 'they felt oppressed'. They were oppressed, feeling and being is completely different.
As a Dutch person though, the Japanese build these workcamps in Indonesia were Dutch and mixed raced people had to go to. I think almost everyone knows people or has family that were in these camps. I had great-aunts who were born in these camps. Not to say that the Dutch colonizers should be left unpunished, but it's still a horrible thing

It was the first public traded company and hence the first stock market was created. The VOC is considered to be the richest company of all time adjusted for inflation and very powerfull. Driven by profit in any way possible. It is however seperate from the west indië company (trade witn Suriname, New Amsterdam, part of Brazil) This was the East indië company (trade with South Africa, Indonesia, Japan, ...). Sadly their power did not come with ethics and mercy.
But indeed we need to look how we can learn and get along better in the future.

Well, European colonial powers they used use company to do the job on behalf and then after 60 years they claim by their name here in Canada 🇨🇦 Hudson Bay company was the ruler and colonized native Canadian after 70 years Britain 🇬🇧 claim Canada as British colony
