HISTORY OF INDONESIA in 12 Minutes

"The proclamation of an independent republic was not quite so simple though and sparked a series of clashes between the Indonesians and the colonizing forces of both the British and Dutch. The British were less compelled to fight back, eventually withdrawing as the Dutch stepped in to try and retake their former possession. After repeated failures, unsuccessful “police actions”, and growing condemnation from the far West, such as the U.S., at long last, in the final weeks of 1949, the Dutch recognized Indonesian autonomy and withdrew from the islands. As a Filipino I love learning history of other countries to expand my knowledge on the history of that country so I can understand their culture and not misunderstand it in just a fake source.

I'm just gonna point out some major stuff you missed.
1. The revolution was about 4 years long (1945-1949) with the Indonesians winning diplomatically.
2. The aftermath of the revolution lead to the formation of the United States of Indonesia (Republik Indonesia Serikat), later converting to a Republic (1950), but remained authoritarian until BJ Habibie became president over the Republic.
3. There was the annexation of Portuguese Timor (1975) and West Papua (1963), Timor Leste achieved independence in 2002 and several attempts and rebellions in West Papua occurred, unknown by popular Indonesian media.

Sorry if I missed any, you can post them in the replies.

What I admire about Indonesia is that they are a country whose territory is very wide and has many islands, but they can become a united nation
