I always have been a Nintendo fanboy but when as a kid my parents offered me a DS for Christmas I chose the PSP. most of my life decisions are regrettable and questionable but chosing a PSP over a Nintendo DS was one of my best decisions XD (I still have it and use it)

Quick correction here (and I'm about to nerd out a bit): The PSP Go can output to a TV. You just need to purchase an adapter that matches the charging plug. There also exists a "dock" stand of sorts that doubles as a place to charge the Go, as well as output it to the TV. When paired with the Go's ability to connect to a PS3 controller via Bluetooth, it begins to sound like Sony beat Nintendo to the concept of the Switch by over a decade. Unfortunately, the dock is very hard to come by, and very expensive if you do find one.

The PSP is such a good system, it has a little bit of everything available on it. Especially if you're into RPGs.

I saved up for a year to buy it and loved it till the day it gave up 2 years back . This console introduced me to the homebrew scene and i enjoyed so many quality stories and games for a 12 year old in india that content was really never gonna reach me .

I ended up studying design and eventually filmmaking and i owe it all to that personal best friend of mine the psp 2000

Never owned a PSP myself but I remember many people in secondary school owning one in like 2010-2012. I might consider getting one at some point, especially for some Disgaea and Valkyria Chronicles Games and whatever else I can find. Since Japanese niche games go right down my alley I think even the later PSP era can satisfy me a lot.

Overall really informative video. Thanks for all the links to accessories, modding tutorials etc. I'm sure those will come in handy at some point. Otherwise really good video. Editing was spot on as always and I had a really good time while watching.

I made a mistake in the video. The PSP Go does have TV out, but the cable is different, because the Go has a proprietary connector. You can get dedicated docks as well.

Here are links to some of the things I mentioned in the video:

I loved the psp, arguably my favorite console ever. it and DS were my main consoles during that generation, as I didn't own a Wii, xbox360, and didn't have a PS3 until about a year before the PS4 came out.

The PSP was a lovely little system. I pulled it out recently & I was shocked at how small it seemed, what with me being used to the Switch now.

This is honestly one of my favourite 'series' on YouTube! Keep up the awesome work!

I literally sold my PS Vita yesterday that had Henkaku 3.60 on it and Adrenaline. I've had it for so long and felt it was time to let it go to someone else to enjoy. I still have a modded 3DS. Don't want to get rid of that probably ever

Ah, a South Ontario man. Back in mid 2000's nobody could afford a PS3, they really priced it terribly especially for Canadians, a LOT of people who had PS2's were sad about it, but many just switched to the Xbox 360 and never looked back until the Ps4 EDIT: 7:00 WOOOO ZELLERS! Man I miss those days

Loved my PSP, I used it for years as my main media player/hand held gaming machine. Especially for NES/SNES and PSX games. Even when I had my first android phone I was still using my PSP as it's mp3 player was far superior. I still have it, I even recently lent it to a friend of mine who was stuck in the hospital. Was a great way to pass the time as I had it loaded up with all kinds of content.

I still have my psp for about 9-10 years, it’s crazy how it still works after many years. Though, I might get a new one after finishing high school.

Great summary of what to look for. A couple things to add on the PSP E1000 / Street model's screen: It is apparently from what I've read the brightest of all models. Its colours are closer to the 2000 than the 3000 (but not an exact match to either). It also lacks the flickering / scanline issue that affects the 3000, nor does it have the ghosting of the earlier models, making it a pretty good all rounder. If you don't need video out and aren't planning on playing any multiplayer games (lacking any wireless communication at all), it's a pretty solid option - the matte finish may be preferable to some even.

You had my sub at "Southern Ontario". Nothing ever wowed me more than the PSP. Loading up WipEout Pure changed my life.

I bought a PSP E1000 (or Street how you called it) in around 2012 I think. The PSP was already dying back then but I absolutely love it and still play it. One of the best handhelds imo.
