2 things is like to add:
1 always check your meter/tick tester on a live circuit before working with it
2 make sure your box is fan rated!

Mine has a light in the ceiling and took it off and it has a plastic outlet. I called around and every place I called said I can’t use the plastic outlet because it’s not to code and ceiling fan will fall off!

Hi, maybe you can help me. When I moved into my house 9 years ago, the ceiling light/fan didn't work. I tried to fix it and it worked for a day. Then every time I tried to turn it on with the light switch, the fuse tripped. Since I don't have the money, that switch never gets used and the ceiling fan/light just sits there, not working. And I have no AC. Can you tell me what might be tripping? Thank you. PS, I love your show. Lowes has tried other people on there show and I did like the wall accent guy but I like your show the best.

So many errors down the road…. Seriously ONLY do that if you know what you are doing. otherwise, contract a professional electrician. Dealing with electricity is no joke. Fans are not all equals and each home has each own specific wiring. DON’T mess with that if you don’t know what you are doing.
