Sure, bring a kid into this world in case his father dies so you can have something to remember him by and the kid grows up without his father. Just create a whole human to not care about his own trauma to just ease YOUR pain. It baffles me the things people come up with. People who have these types of arguments must have had their kids for selfish reasons.

Weaponizing someone's worst fear is disgusting. I would never say to anyone, "aren't you scared your child will get shot at school?" or "wouldn't it be just terrible to lose your spouse and child in an accident? Aren't you so terrified of that possibility?" Like obviously the loss of people you love most is one of the worst things to live through. No one needs the anxiety of being reminded of that being brought up.

Actually, that's actually my greatest fear: if I have a kid and my husband dies, I'll have to ensure the loss while still having to take care of a child traumatized by the death of his/her dad. Doesn't matter how much friends/family say they'll support me, in the end of the day it's just me and the child.

Ffs, if u r one of those who are planning to have kids for this reason, don't. While ur partner is alive, please treat him/her great. Your kid is another individual, not an extension of your damn self.

Also, s/he will have to stress, study, work, become ill and die. For that damn reason? How are you going to explain his/her existence to your kid?

I don't need to have a child from every person I love to remember them if they pass away before me. Poor children who are brought into this world just in case you need a souvenir from their dad. And the child might not even look like the husband, he/she may look like the wife only (like my sister who only looks like our mom).
