Hi! Studio by Wordpress is now available for Windows. 06/06/2024 💻

Studio gives you Sqlite while servers usually run on Mysql or others. There is a miss match there, so it will not work. I tried and faced this.

This is a great compariosion video. It's very new and we don't know where it goes. If there are problems like migrating to actual server then it;s a big no to use. So far no problems with using Local by Flywheel. Does it become another Gutenberg kind of useless unfinished project for coming years?

Hi, Paul. When I want to migrate a website on Local to an actual server, should I use a plugin like all-in-one-wp-migration to export and back up the entire website from Local, and then install the same plugin in the original WordPress backend to import the backup? Is this correct? Will there be any problems? Or what should I pay attention to?
PS: I don't have an account with WP engine or FLYWHEEL, and I don't host my website on them.

I’ve had issues when transferring a website to a real server. Studio seems to miss vital tables

Its still very early days for Studio and at this point is the worst its going to be. Local on the otherhand is well established and I would expect it to be ahead of the curve. Migrating using a db export and files transfer was easy for me to a live env for Studio. on Local, you can select a different sql on setup, but cannot change it after without exporting and importing again. Great vid as always!

Would be great if u design local and hit a single sync button that syncs the files to the server

Thanks Paul. Again a 10/10 video. What is the possibility to run a MAC OS emulator on Windows and then install Local WordPress?

Local straight up deleted a site of mine one time when it crashed. I didn’t know what happened until I found it in the recycling bin 😂

when Studio will be available for Ubuntu then we’ll check, but for now the Local is the best

So basically you cant push to your live website on your own server or hosting of your choice from either app. Right?

Can you not install a plugin like all-in-one and download your site and then upload to your server?

Or does it not work like that?

Great video from Paul as always.
But what are the benefits of a local wp compared to online such as InstaWP or other solutions.
Local means download, setup, config, update, resources, and perhaps no https?
With instawp, one can get a core wo site in no time, and change the php, wp version...on the fly.
