Phiharmonic Visual Synthesiser (Original Video)

The Phiharmonic Visual Synthesiser is an 8 note polyphonic additive synth which allows the added oscillators to move between the harmonic series and a Phi relationhip. Visuals also move between these ratios in sync with the sound. The synth is controlled with ultrasonic sensors and MIDI, and is built in Arduino, Max and Processing.

The Phiharmonic Visual Synthsiser has its own individual "Phiharmonic Temperament", which correctly sounds the first 8 partials of the harmonic series in C, and also allows 8 "octaves" or "Golden 6ths" of Phi from C2. The temperament is based to an extent on Heinz Bohlen's 833 cent scale.
