Undisputedly one of the best pieces of work ever composed. Very few melodies can reach into the soul and bring the most hardened heart to emotional surrender. This is a work that you never want to end, just go on and on, soothing the soul and caressing the heart. Thank you to Johann Pachelbel, wherever your soul rests.

Many winters ago I sat in the Santa Fe Plaza and listened to this music coming from the Governor's Palace. It was dusk, all the plaza lamps bright in the falling snow, so cold, and many people going home from work. It seemed Pachelbel put a smile on everyone's face. I thought at that time, this moment will be one of the sweetest memories in my life. It is.

Johann Pachelbel war die meiste Zeit seines Lebens Kirchenmusiker in Nürnberg. Der Canon ist eher untypisch für seine Musik und doch ein Meisterwerk. ❤❤❤

My all time favorite. Walked down the aisle at my wedding to this song.

This was the music we had chosen for our wedding and it was always vey special to us. When my dear husband died the organist played it at his funeral without my knowing it - you may assume how moving this was... I cannot listen to it without tears...

All of creation has a unheard fathomic groan, but Pachelbel's Canon owns a mysterious power that temporarily calms the beast and soothes the soul.

At 18, I sat down in a required college music appreciation class prepared to be bored for a semester. The professor played this song five minutes into class and it moved me to tears. That was 41 years ago and it is still my favorite song.

I first listened to the Canon in D when I was 15, I'm 49 now, so many things have happened, but this music still stirs my memory as I look back and inspires me in the present and for the future...not without bringing stifled tears to my eyes...such is the power of music!
